About the role

Interpreters facilitate access and communication for the Australian Deaf community through the provision of high-quality, professional interpreting services. Interpreting assignments for Certified Interpreters may be, but are not limited to the following contexts; community, medical, workplace, education and training, legal (private, police, tribunals, mediation and court), conferences, and the arts.


Can:Do Group is seeking dynamic, trained Auslan/English Interpreters to evolve and strengthen our vital service delivery to Deaf and Hard of Hearing South Australians. 


This position will play an integral role in assisting the Deaf Community of South Australia.


About you

The role requires someone with NAATI accreditation in Auslan/English interpreting or able to qualify for accreditation in a short timeframe. You must be self-directed and able to work under pressure and able to maintain confidentiality for all assignments including information conveyed verbally, in Auslan, and written forms.


The successful candidate will have a ‘Can:Do’ attitude:

  • Excellent communication skills;
  • The ability to promote a positive reputation for Can:Do Group and its services;
  • A commitment to working collaboratively with other human services and other agencies;
  • Sound knowledge of ASLIA Professional Code of Ethics, and recognised interpreting principles and practice.


Special Conditions:

  • Out of hours work will be required;
  • Current, clear driver's licence (essential);
  • Appropriate Employment Screening- DHS Working with Children check and NDIS Worker Screening.
